PSO Quirino in partnership with LCRO Maddela conducts mobile civil registration and on-site National ID Registration in Barangay San Dionisio I on 07 August 2025
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Quirino Provincial Statistical Office brought National ID registration closer to the Agta community in Barangay San Dionisio I, Maddela, on 07 August 2025.
Eighteen (18) individuals, mostly members of the Agta tribe- an Indigenous People (IP) group in the Philippines were successfully registered to the National Identification System.
The Agtas, who traditionally rely on hunting, gathering, and subsistence farming, often face challenges in accessing government services due to their remote location. The on-site registration provided them with convenient access to a valid proof of identity, sparing them the time, effort, and expenses of traveling to the registration center.
Having a National ID empowers Indigenous Peoples (IPs) by providing greater recognition and a stronger sense of belonging. It ensures secure access to essential services, enables smoother transactions, and supports easier mobility for work or education. Moreover, it opens doors to social protection programs, healthcare, and educational opportunities, fostering inclusion and equal participation in society.
PSA Quirino reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no Quirinian, especially those in remote and marginalized communities is left behind in the country’s pursuit of an inclusive and accessible identification system.
In addition, PSA Quirino, through Birth Registration Coordinator Jamaica Asne and in partnership with the Local Civil Registry Office of Maddela, assisted members of the Agta community in processing their delayed birth registration. Three (3) Agta beneficiaries received their free Certificates of Live Birth in security paper under the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP).
By bringing both National ID registration and birth registration directly to the Agta community, the agency underscores its mission of inclusivity, equity, and accessibility, ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to be officially recognized, protected, and empowered.
