The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Quirino Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted the 4th Preliminary Data Review for the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) on July 17, 2025, at the Local Government Center in Aurora East, Diffun, Quirino.
The activity aimed to present and validate initial CBMS results to ensure data quality for local development planning. It was led by CSS Engr. Cherry Grace D. Agustin and SrSS Marison S. Lomboy, with support from PSA RSSO II OIC-SOCD Ernesto M. De Peralta, EnP; SSS Karen T. Fernandez; Statistical Specialist II Joan G. Salas; and ISA II Psyche R. Villanueva.
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Charito T. Yangat, EnP, welcomed the participants on behalf of Hon. May Garnace D. Calaunan, Municipal Mayor who was unable to attend due to prior commitments. Ms. Yangat conveyed the mayor’s gratitude to PSA for the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in Diffun and acknowledged the absence of some participants due to valid reasons.
CSS Agustin highlighted the significance of CBMS as a tool for evidence-based planning, allowing LGUs to identify needs at the grassroots level and allocate resources efficiently. She emphasized its role in addressing poverty and supporting sustainable local development.
The PSA commended LGU Diffun, particularly the MPDO, for their active participation and strong support in ensuring the smooth implementation of CBMS activities. A total of 33 participants from various national and local government offices attended, demonstrating strong inter-agency collaboration and commitment to data-driven governance.
PSA Quirino expressed appreciation to LGU Diffun and its partner agencies. The successful conduct of the data review marked a key step toward leveraging community-level data for informed policymaking. Similar reviews were scheduled in other municipalities to ensure all LGUs had access to reliable CBMS data for development planning.
