The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Quirino Provincial Office conducted a Press Conference at Abrasa MPC Building, Aurora East, Diffun, Quirino on 13 January 2025 , unveiling detailed data regarding the recent inflation report impacting  the province of Quirino in December 2024.

Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS), Engr. Cherry Grace D. Agustin served as the presenter during the press conference. CSS Agustin has reported that the December 2024 inflation rate in the province decelerated at 1.5 percent from 2.4 percent in November 2024. She highlighted that the downtrend of inflation rate was mainly brought by Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 81.8 percent share.

In addition, contributing to the downtrend in the overall inflation rate of the province were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 13.8 percent share and Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 2.8 percent share.

Engr. Jomel A. Sugue of the Provincial Planning and Development Office explained that the decline in inflation would contribute to better resource management, improved public services, and enhanced economic stability, ultimately benefiting the residents of Quirino. He also shared several key interventions aimed at supporting local consumers, particularly in light of possible rising prices for essential commodities.

Dr. Jo Danice Q. Bicos from Provincial Agriculture Office shared that while the inflation rate for vegetables increased due to the impact of recent typhoons, prices of other commodities helped balance the overall inflation, contributing to its deceleration.

On the other hand, Alyssa Maranion of the Department of Trade and Industry-Quirino said prices of basic goods and essential commodities remained stable following the 60-day price freeze that took effect on November 13, 2024 until January 12, 2025.

Aside from respected media partners, representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office and the Department of Labor and Employment were also present during the press conference.

The said event was streamed live on the PSA Quirino’s official Facebook Page, ensuring broader community engagement.

The PSA reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accuracy and timely dissemination of economic data, ensuring that stakeholders are equipped with the necessary information to navigate the ever-evolving economic landscape.
