10 January 2025 - TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) conducted the Press Conference on the December 2024 Inflation on 10 January 2025 at PSA-RSSO II Conference Hall, Regional Government Center (RGC), Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

The press conference was attended by representatives from the Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas - Tuguegarao Branch (BSP-Tug), National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office 02 (NEDA RO2), Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office 02 (DTI RO2), and Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 02 (DA RFO2). Also present during the activity is Radyo Pilipinas DWPE Tuguegarao.

Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of PSA-RSSO II, presented the inflation report of the Cagayan Valley Region for December 2024 that includes headline inflation rate across commodities and commodity groups.

During the open forum, Ms. Rizza T. Andres, Senior Development Specialist of the Policy Formulations and Planning Division (PFPD) at NEDA RO2, reported that Region 2 remained within the target inflation rate despite recent weather disturbances. Ms. Vanessa Ross D. Tuddao, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist of DTI RO2, attributed the decline in Quirino’s inflation to the price freeze on basic commodities. At the same time, Ms. Maria Elena A. Madriaga, Bank Officer IV of BSP-Tuguegarao, emphasized the agency’s use of monetary policy to maintain price stability. The discussions highlighted the collaborative efforts of government agencies to address inflation and ensure economic stability in the region.
