26 February 2024 - TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) conducted the Vital Statistics Dissemination Forum on 26 February 2024 at Crown Hotel and Restaurant, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

 

The forum is one of the lined-up activities of PSA-RSSO II in celebration of this year’s 34th Civil Registration Month themed, “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”. A total of 60 participants consisted of City/Municipal Civil Registrars, Solemnizing Officers, Hospital Administrators and Record Officers, Provincial Planning and Development Officers, Regional Line Agencies, Media partners, and PSA officials and employees across the region attended the forum. 

 

In his welcome message, Mr. Ernesto M. de Peralta, Jr., Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), stressed that the theme for the 34th CRM underscored the significance of innovation and integration in the agency's statistical approach. 

 

“By actively participating, we directly help make services smoother. Our discussions and insights act like building blocks, working towards a better and more responsive governance. This ultimately benefits our communities by making things more efficient and effective,” Mr. de Peralta added. 

 

Meanwhile, Ms. Remelinda V. Punzalan, Municipal Civil Registrar of San Isidro, Isabela and Acting President of the Philippine Association of Civil Registrars (PACR) Region 2 Chapter, delivered her message putting emphasis on the importance of civil registration in the life of an individual from birth to death.

 

During the forum, Ms. Victoria D. Callueng, Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) of the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Solana, Cagayan, presented the overview of Vital Statistics, while the presentations on birth, marriage and death statistics were discussed by Ms. Cholly L. Bayon, Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) of Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Nueva Vizcaya; Engr. Elena U. Rivera, CSS of PSO-Cagayan; and Ms. Mary Jane C. Cabauatan, Supervising Statistical Specialist (SSS) of PSA-RSSO II, respectively. 

 

Dr. Anabelle Sanchez, Medical Officer IV of the Department of Health Regional Office 02 (DOH RO2) and Dr. Chanda T. Api, Division Chief of the Policy and Plans Division of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office II (DSWD FO2), served as discussants during the forum.
