The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) spearheaded the kick-off program of the 35th Civil Registration Month Celebration on 03 February 2025 with the theme: “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System”.
The CRM is celebrated every year pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino which aims to remind us the importance of registering acts and events concerning status of a person and enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.
The activity started with a motorcade within the primary routes of Tuguegarao City followed by a thanksgiving mass and a short program.
Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, Chief Statistical Specialist, Officer-in-Charge of RSSO II expressed his utmost gratitude to everyone who attended the event and further emphasized the importance of providing every Filipino with civil registry documents that is indispensable in establishing their legal identity and status. Along his welcome message, OIC RD Bayucan enumerated some of the initiatives of the PSA to establish a robust civil registration system that is evolving and responsive to the novel demands of time.
The event was graced by Atty. Roderick S. Iquin, Chief Legal Officer of the City Government of Tuguegarao who represented the city mayor. In his message, Atty. Iquin emphasized the importance of civil registration to their constituents. A message of support was also delivered by MCR of Abulug, Irene Z. Cabagui, Philippine Association of Civil Registrars (PACR) President for Cagayan Chapter, who reaffirmed the commitment of civil registrars in upholding efficient and inclusive civil registration services across the region.
The motorcade was actively attended by more than 150 participants from different Regional Line Agencies, City/Municipal Civil Registrars along with the regional and provincial offices of PSA.
