𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴=𝟭𝟬𝟬) 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

Inflation in the province of Cagayan climbed to 2.7 percent in June 2025, from 2.5 percent recorded in May 2025. In June 2024, inflation rate was higher at 5.2 percent. (Table A, D, and Figure 1).

The faster inflation in the province was brought about by the increase in the three commodity groups, with food and non-alcoholic beverages being the highest contributor at 2.3 percent in June 2025 from 1.8 percent recorded in May 2025. It was followed by recreation, sport and culture at 1.2 percent in June 2025 from -0.7 percent in May 2025. Personal care and miscellaneous goods and services also contributed to the to the overall inflation of the province with 3.2 percent in June 2025, from 2.8 recorded in May 2025. Transport, though still on the negative side, also contributed significantly to the inflation of the province with -2.4 percent in June 2025 from -3.3 percent.
Despite the increase of inflation in Cagayan, it is noteworthy that five commodity groups showed a downward movement, namely:
a. Clothing and footwear at 1.8 percent from 2.1 percent
b. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel at 4.8 percent from 5.2 percent
c. Furnishing, household equipment and routing household maintenance at -0.1 percent from 0.4 percent
d. Health at 1.2 percent from 1.3 percent
Meanwhile the following group indices remained constant for June 2025:
a. Alcoholic Beverages and tobacco at 2.9 percent
b. Education Services at 1.7 percent
c. Restaurant and accommodation services at 9.0 percent
d. Financial Services at 0.0 percent

The overall food inflation in the province was faster at 2.2 percent in June 2025 from 1.8 percent recorded in May 2025.
The faster food inflation was yielded by the higher year-on-year annual growth in the index of fruits and nuts at 44.7 percent in June 2025 from 31.2 percent in May 2025. Additionally, higher annual mark-ups were observed in the indices of the following food groups during the month in review:
a. Oils and fats at 18.1 percent from 14.2 percent
b. Meat and other parts of slaughtered animals at 17.3 percent from 14.4 percent
c. Flour, bread and other bakery products, pasta products and other cereals at
2.4 percent from 1.0 percent
d. Milk, other dairy products and eggs at 1.2 percent from -0.1 percent
Despite the faster food inflation in the province of Cagayan, some food groups showed decreased in the indices of vegetables, tubers plantains, cooking bananas and pulses at 17.1 percent in June 2025 from 19.9 percent in May 2025. It was followed by ready-made food at 3.2 percent from 4.5 percent, fish and other seafood at 9.6 percent from 9.8 percent.
Meanwhile, rice and corn maintained its negative inflation at -25.2 percent and -5.1 percent, respectively.
