19 July 2024 - Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) held an Earthquake Preparedness and Response Orientation at PSA-RSSO II Conference Hall, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The orientation was attended by 33 employees of PSA-RSSO II.
In his opening message, Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, Officer-in-Charge of PSA-RSSO II warmly welcomed all participants and expressed gratitude to the resource speakers from the Office of Civil Defense Region 2 (OCD-RO2). He emphasized that despite the PSA's busy schedule and extensive activities, it is crucial to allocate time for this kind of orientation because we do not know what will happen in the future, we do not know how to act, or we do not know what event, within and beyond the act of man, will meet in the future.
After the opening remarks, Mr. Christian Karl T. Ibañez, Computer Maintenance Technologist II (CMT-II) of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit Operations Section, joined Mr. Aldwin Dexter G. Padilla, Technical Support Staff, and Ms. Sunshine A. Asuncion, Information Officer II of the 24/7 Monitoring Unit, all representing the Office of the Civil Defense Regional Office II (OCD-RO2), took the stage. They delivered a series of informative lectures on earthquake preparedness and response. Through their engaging presentations, Mr. Ibañez, Mr. Padilla, and Ms. Asuncion shared valuable insights, practical tips, and discussed the duties and responsibilities of the disaster control group, emphasizing safety and well-being during seismic events.
Overall, the orientation was enthusiastically received with active participation from attendees, demonstrating a strong commitment to earthquake preparedness for their own well-being and the communities they support.
