29 October 2024 – ECHAGUE, ISABELA. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II), alongside the Regional Statistics Committee 2 (RSC2) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas – Tuguegarao City Branch (BSP-TUG), officially concluded the 35th National Statistics Month (NSM) with a closing program held on 29 October 2024, at the Isabela State University – Echague Campus (ISU-E).
This year’s NSM, themed “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation” emphasized the transformative role of digital technology in advancing statistical awareness. ISU University President Ricmar P. Aquino, PhD, welcomed attendees by affirming the university’s support, stating, “The university joins hands with the PSA in recognizing the significance of digital data and statistics… in creating a sustainable, empowered society.”.
Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, PSA-RSSO II Officer-in-Charge and RSC2 Vice-Chairperson, encouraged attendees to view the program as the start of a new chapter in digital transformation for data and statistics. BSP-TUG, as the host of the closing ceremony, organized a Financial Literacy Discussion led by Ms. Maria Elena A. Madriaga, Bank Officer IV, and set up a financial literacy booth to provide resources on financial knowledge in today’s digital world.
Activities included contests in Statiktok, Monologue, Photography, Logo-making, and the NSM Jingle Dance Contest to creatively engage participants with statistics.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from Mr. Dioniso C. Ledres, Jr., RSC2 Chairperson and NEDA Region 2 Director, delivered by Ms. Gina V. Dayag, who highlighted the value of collaboration and expressed appreciation for the month’s achievements, hoping that the partnerships will continue to elevate public awareness of the importance of statistics.
PSA-RSSO II, RSC2, and BSP-TUG look forward to fostering statistical literacy and supporting data-driven development in Region II.
