08 July 2025 – Uyugan, Batanes. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Batanes Provincial Statistical Office successfully presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Uyugan in an official meeting held on 08 July 2025 at the Municipal Conference Hall, Uyugan, Batanes. The presentation was attended by officials and employees from LGU Uyugan, led by the Honorable Vice Mayor Felix Y. Adami.

The activity aimed to present local officials and stakeholders with an overview of key indicators derived from the recently concluded 2024 CBMS data collection. The presentation highlighted vital statistics related to basic services included in the household profile questionnaire. These basic services encompass essential public service systems that address fundamental human needs, such as access to drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, energy, transportation, waste management, healthcare, education, and information and communication technologies.
Vice Mayor Felix Y. Adami extended a warm welcome to all participants. He commended the efforts of the PSA and acknowledged the importance of CBMS data in supporting development planning and informed resource allocation.

Chief Statistical Specialist Ramil G. Abad emphasized the importance of the CBMS in supporting evidence-based planning and policy formulation. “CBMS is an economic and social tool helpful for identifying vulnerable sectors in the communities and in providing information to enable a targeted approach in implementing poverty alleviation and development programs,” he stated.

The preliminary results will still be subject to validation and review prior to the formal provincial turnover of CBMS data to the concerned LGUs. PSA Batanes reaffirms its commitment to supporting LGU Uyugan in effectively using the data, including through capacity-building initiatives and technical assistance for policy development.

The CBMS is an initiative under Republic Act No. 11315, or the Community-Based Monitoring System Act, which mandates regular, comprehensive local data collection to support inclusive, evidence-based governance.
