13 June 2025 - TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA RSSO II) announces the conduct of the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES), one of the flagship nationwide household surveys of the agency. It is conducted every two years in two separate visits, first in July this year and the second in January 2026.

FIES is a rider to the July round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) and will cover selected sample households across the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

The 2025 FIES aims to accomplish the following objectives:
1. To gather data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure and related information affecting family income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines;
2. To determine the income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families;
3. To provide inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold and incidence; and
4. To provide benchmark information to update the weights used in the estimation of Consumer Price Index (CPI).

In Cagayan Valley, a total of approximately 6,900 sample households are expected to participate in the survey, which will be conducted from 08 to 31 July 2025. These households have been scientifically selected through random sampling methods to represent the population of the region. Trained Statistical Researchers (SRs) will conduct face-to-face interviews using tablet-based Computer-Aided Personal Interviewing (CAPI) to ensure data accuracy and security.

The agency strongly encourages all sampled households to actively participate in the survey by providing accurate and truthful information for data-driven policy and poverty reduction efforts. It assures that all information provided will be held in strict confidentiality in accordance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013.
