The LGU Sabtang and PSA Batanes personnel posed for a group photo during the 2024 CBMS Preliminary Results Presentation

15 July 2025 – Sabtang, Batanes. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Batanes Provincial Statistical Office successfully presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sabtang during an official meeting held on 15 July 2025 at the BAC Office, Sabtang, Batanes.

The meeting was attended by officials and staff from LGU Sabtang, led by Honorable Mayor Teresita C. Neyala, who warmly welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of CBMS data in guiding evidence-based planning and resource allocation. She expressed appreciation for the PSA’s continuous efforts in providing reliable data to support local development initiatives.

The presentation provided local leaders with an overview of key indicators derived from the recently completed CBMS data collection. These indicators covered essential services included in the household profile questionnaire. These services include public service provision systems that meet basic human needs such as access to drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, energy, transportation, waste management, health care, education, and information and communication technologies.

PSA Batanes Chief Statistical Specialist Ramil G. Abad underscored the significance of CBMS in promoting inclusive and data-informed governance. “CBMS is a powerful tool for identifying marginalized and vulnerable sectors in the community. It enables a more targeted and effective approach to poverty reduction and development programs,” he said.

The preliminary results are currently undergoing further validation and review prior to the official provincial-level data turnover to the concerned LGUs. PSA Batanes reaffirmed its commitment to supporting LGU Sabtang throughout the data utilization process, including technical assistance and capacity-building activities for local policymaking and program implementation.

The CBMS is implemented under Republic Act No. 11315, also known as the Community-Based Monitoring System Act, which institutionalizes the regular collection of local-level data to enhance planning, governance, and service delivery across the country.
