21 May 2025 - TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA RSSO II) conducted an information drive at the Coast Guard District North-Eastern Luzon on 21 May 2025 to promote awareness of the agency's core programs and services.

Ms. Ma. Iseendra N. Miguel, Registration Officer III, provided an overview of the National Identification, highlighting its key features and benefits in streamlining government services and strengthening identity verification processes. During the session, personnel from the PCG also downloaded their digital national IDs—a convenient feature of the National ID that can be used in both government and private transactions.

Meanwhile, Ms. Daisy R. Villar, Registration Officer IV, discussed the fundamental concepts and procedures related to civil registration, emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate registration of vital events such as births, marriages, and deaths. She also presented key laws governing civil registration, including Republic Act No. 9048 (Authorizing the City or Municipal Civil Registrar to Correct Clerical or Typographical Errors), Republic Act No. 10172 (Further Authorizing Corrections in the Day and Month of Birth and Sex), Presidential Decree No. 603 (The Child and Youth Welfare Code), and Republic Act No. 9255 (Allowing Illegitimate Children to Use the Surname of their Father).

The session also included a brief introduction to the agency’s statistical services, including the PSA Data Archive (PSADA), OpenStat, and Data Enclave. These platforms play a crucial role in data collection, analysis, and dissemination, supporting evidence-based planning and policymaking.

The activity forms part of PSA RSSO II’s continuing efforts to inform and engage partner agencies in the effective use of official statistics, civil registration services and national ID.
