12 April 2024 - TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN. The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) conducted the Cagayan Valley Press Conference on the March 2024 Inflation on 12 April 2024 at PSA-RSSO II Conference Hall, RGC, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City and was broadcasted live on the agency’s official Facebook page, PSA Cagayan Valley – Region 02.

 

The press conference was attended by various Regional Line Agencies (RLAs): Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 (DTI R02), Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 02 (DA-RFO2), National Economic and Development Authority Region 02 (NEDA RO2), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Tuguegarao Branch, and the Department of Labor and Employment Region 02 (DOLE R02). Media personalities from Philippine Information Agency (PIA), DZYT 765khz Sonshine Radio Tuguegarao, DZDA 105.3 mhz (Radyo Pangkaunlaran) and DWPE Radyo Pilipinas Tuguegarao were also present.

 

Mr. Ernesto M. de Peralta Jr., Officer-in-Charge, Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (OIC, SOCD) presented the inflation report for the region, which included the headline inflation rate across all commodity groups, highlighting the commodity groups that contributed to the increase in inflation as compared to the previous month. Hence, the major contributors to the acceleration of inflation are the following:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, and Restaurants and accommodation services.

The resource persons who provided valuable insights during the open forum were Ms. Eva Lynne M. Marcos, Area Director of BSP Tuguegarao Branch; Mr. Mark Pagulayan, Supervising Economic Development Specialist of NEDA RO2; Mr. Ferdinand Cortez from DZDA; Mr. Pablo Mamauag from DZYT; Ms. Dina Villacampa from DWPE; and Mr. Arvin Tumanguil, Project Development Associate - I of DA - AMAD.
