05 January 2024 Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The Philippine Statistics Authority's Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA RSSO II) has successfully registered a total of 2,880,292 individuals from the Cagayan Valley Region into the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID.
Among its notable achievements, 1.3 million registrations were recorded in the province of Isabela, followed by Cagayan with 1 million registrations, Nueva Vizcaya with 389,594 registrants, Quirino with 164,701 registrants, and Batanes with 16,406 registrants.
The implementation of R.A. No. 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System Act, which was enacted in August 2018, paved the way for the establishment of a unified national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines.
As of December 2023, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has successfully delivered a substantial 1,821,317 PhilSys cards in the Cagayan Valley Region, accounting for 63 percent of the total registered individuals.
Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, Officer-in-charge of PSA RSSO II, expressed gratitude to the PhilSys field personnel for their unwavering dedication for the past 3 years since PhilSys has been implemented, emphasizing their crucial role in fulfilling PSA's mission of creating an inclusive identification system. Bayucan further announced the ongoing efforts to register eligible individuals aged 5 years old and above into PhilSys, encouraging all Filipinos to participate for the numerous benefits it brings in transactions with various government and private institutions.
