Photo opportunities with the Maila Rosario College Students and Staff during the Information Awareness Drive
27 February 2025, Tuguegarao City – In celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Cagayan Provincial Statistical Office conducted Symposium aimed at strengthening awareness of civil registration and vital statistics. The event, held in partnership with Maila Rosario College, also featured updates on the National ID system, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accessible and efficient public services.
With the theme “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” the campaign sought to educate students on the significance of accurate civil registration. Ms. Imelda Abad, Registration Officer II, PSA Cagayan provided an in-depth discussion on the Overview of Civil Registration, emphasizing the importance of vital documents in various life transactions.
PSA Cagayan Officer-In-Charge (OIC) and Supervising Statistical Specialist Ms. Cristeta M. Retoma further elaborated on Civil Registration, Data Security, and Privacy Concerns, highlighting the role of data integrity and confidentiality in civil registration processes.
Meanwhile, Ms. Jovy Ann Moraña, Registration Officer II for the National ID, discussed the significance of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), its various forms, and the authentication process to ensure secure identity verification for all citizens.
The event concluded with a message of gratitude from OIC, who expressed her appreciation to Maila Rosario College for their participation. She commended the students for their engagement and underscored the critical role they play in supporting the country’s civil registration and National ID registration.
A total of 170 students from various programs, to include Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Information Technology, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, and Technical Vocational Teacher Education, actively participated in the event. Their presence and enthusiasm underscored the importance of raising awareness on civil registration and national identity documentation among the younger generation.
The PSA Cagayan Provincial Statistical Office remains committed to promoting efficient civil registration processes and ensuring that every Filipino has access to accurate, reliable, and secure identity documents essential for government and private sector transactions.
