07 February 2025, Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya -  A total of 133 individuals were awarded their birth certificates through the Birth Registration Assistance Project in a ceremony held on 07 February 2025 at Municipal Gymnasium of Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya. The initiative, spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Statistical Office, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dupax del Sur through the Municipal Civil Registrar Office (MCRO), aims to provide legal identity to unregistered individuals, ensuring their access to essential services and rights.


The awarding ceremony was attended Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Cholly L. Bayon, the Municipal Government of Dupax del Sur headed by Hon. Mayor Neil M. Magaway and staff from the MCR Office. In his message, CSS Bayon, emphasized the importance of birth registration in securing legal identity, enabling beneficiaries to enjoy government services such as education, healthcare, and social protection.


“We are committed to reaching every unregistered Filipino, especially those in remote and marginalized communities. This project is a step forward in our mission to promote inclusivity and ensure that no one is left behind,” CSS Bayon stated.


The beneficiaries came from different barangays of Dupax del Sur as follows: seven (7) in Barangay Caroloran, 11 in Barangay Sanguit, 12 in Barangay Ganao, 15 in Barangay Kinabuan, nine (9) in Barangay Canabay, eight (8) in Barangay Abaca, 12 in Barangay Lukidnon, 13 in Barangay Biruk, 12 in Barangay Talbek, three (3) in Barangay Kimbutan, two (2) in Barangay Banila, one (1) in Barangay Pabolotan, two (2) in Barangay Domang, five (5) in Barangay Dopaj, eight (8) in Barangay Bagumbayan, one (1) in Barangay Balzain, two (2) in Barangay Sta. Maria, and 10 in Barangay Mangayang in the Municipality of Dupax del Sur.


The beneficiaries, consisting of adults, and elderly individuals, expressed their gratitude for the assistance. For many, this milestone marks the beginning of new opportunities, including, employment, inclusion to “ayuda” and most specially access to government benefits.

 

One of the recipients, shared their gratitude:“For 79 years, I struggled without a birth certificate. Now, I can finally apply for government benefits like the centenarian incentives.”

The Birth Registration Assistance Project is part of PSA’s nationwide effort to achieve Universal Civil Registration, in line with the country’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The PSA encourages those who have yet to register their birth to seek assistance from their local civil registrars.
