18 April 2023, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. – The Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office II (PSA-RSSO II) conducted its Press Conference for the 1^st Quarter 2023 Inflation on 18 April 2023 at the Conference Hall of PSA-RSSO II, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It was participated by partners from the Print and Broadcast Media, Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), and Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs). The press conference was also streamed live via PSA Cagayan Valley-Region 2 Facebook page.

The activity aims to inform the public on the rates of increase and decrease of prices of commonly purchased commodities in the region and its five (5) provinces, including the main source of acceleration and drivers of the present inflation.

The report on the 1^st quarter 2023 inflation was delivered by Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) and Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of PSA-RSSO II. He stated that the Cagayan Valley was the third region with the least inflation rate of 6.2 percent in the country based on the March 2023 report.

The presentation piqued the interest of the participants and led to a lively exchange of information during the open forum. Engr. Bayucan together with Ms. Gina V. Dayag, Chief Economic Development Specialist of the National Economic and Development Authority-Region 02 (NEDA-R02), actively responded to the queries raised by the participants.

The press conference was formally ended by Engr. Bayucan, expressing his gratitude to the participants and looking forward to another successful press conference for the 2^nd quarter of 2023.
