As part of the nationwide implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), PSA Cagayan Valley recently launches its Step 2 Registration Centers in the Provinces of Batanes and Quirino on May 31, 2021 and Nueva Vizcaya on June 1, 2021.
PSA-RSSO II, Regional Director Marilyn T. Estrada personally attended the launching at PSA Quirino. In her message, she shared the history of PhilSys and proceeded to ID’s functions and importance to nation’s development. She highlighted that the used of the said ID will streamline government and private transactions, reduces fraud and promotes ease of doing business, “the implementation and roll-out of this ID system was no easy task, but thanks to our Local Government Units for extending your full support to this project. President Duterte envisions this project to be a way to eliminate corruption and promote cashless, paperless and presence less transactions especially to our indigent communities,’’ RD Estrada added.
Meanwhile, Hon. Dakila E. Cua, provincial governor of Quirino seconded RD’s message. He emphasized that the said project will close gaps between the government and its people and is the perfect response to diminish the digital divide. Gov. Cua also shared that the provincial government of Quirino is currently working-out in making Quirino the first “SMART Province” in the country. He stressed that at present they are coordinating with telecommunication agencies which will partner with them in putting-up a strong and reliable internet connections to every corner of the province of Quirino. He ended his speech by ensuring that the provincial government will continue to provide its support to successfully implement PhilSys in his province and guaranteed that the PhilSys staff will receive their first and second jab of COVID19 vaccines for protection as they transact with people face-to-face every day.
During its first day of Step 2 registrations, the municipality of Aglipay, Quirino registered a total of 93 residents. This includes Aglipay Mayor Jerry T. Agsalda who also graced the launching activity. On the other hand, the municipality of Diffun which was opened on the same day registered a total of 94 registrants for its first day operation.
In the province of Batanes, Provincial Statistical Officer (PSO) Ramil G. Abad reported that the office registered a total of 18 registrants in
Brgy. Kaychanarianan, Basco, Batanes. The event was attended by key executives of the municipality of Basco and PSA staff.
Meanwhile, in the province of Nueva Vizcaya headed by PSO Cholly S. Bayon, the PhilSys team registered a total of 102 individuals in the municipality of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
The messages of the Regional Director were delivered via video presentation in both provinces during their launching activity.
