Cagayan Valley bags Best NSM Region during the 28th National Statistics Month (NSM) Awards at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Assembly Hall, Manila on October 29, 2018.
The Region received a plaque of recognition and cash prize for its unparalleled performance and exemplary dedication towards the successful conduct of various statistical activities during the celebration of the 28th NSM last October 2017.
The month-long celebration of NSM in Cagayan Valley was participated by 37 different agencies, comprised of three academic institutions, seven local government units, and 27 regional line agencies. The different activities were participated by Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), students, faculty, and media.
A total of 89 activities were materialized in celebration of the 28th NSM in Cagayan Valley. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and activities recorded the most number of materials and activities conducted in the region. Moreover, nine contests such as On-the-Spot Slogan Making, On-the-Spot Poster Making, Essay Writing, Oratorical and Statistical Quizzes were also conducted. Six foras and two exhibits were also held. Twenty-one activities categorized under Others include Film Showing, Motorcade, Tree Planting, Summit, and others.
In partnership with the Regional Statistics Committee 2 (RSC2), the Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office 02 (PSA-RSSO 02) conducted the kick-off ceremony of the 28th NSM on October 02, 2017 at CSU Andrews Auditorium, Caritan Centro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Part of the Opening Ceremony was a symposium entitled “#AmBisyonNatin2040 ATM: Millennials Moving Forward Towards a Brighter Future” which is aimed to: (1) create awareness on AmBisyon Natin 2040 and its link to the youth; and (2) encourage the youth to become more active and implement solutions to society’s everyday problems in the short and long-term. It was attended by 295 participants, 253 of which came from different schools of the Region.
PSA-RSSO 02 together with the Philippine Statistical Association Incorporated (PSAI) spearheaded the conduct of the first Regional Statistics Quiz Exhibition Game held in the region in coordination with RSC2 last October 27, 2017 at Hotel Carmelita,
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The Exhibition Game is in lieu of the annual Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) and part of the culminating activity of the 28th NSM. The exhibition game aims to (1) continuously assess the proficiency of college students in statistics; (2) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics among the students; and (3) promote public awareness and appreciation on the significance of statistics in our day to day activities.
The 2017 host for the Opening Ceremony was the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) 02 while the closing ceremony was hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Tuguegarao Branch.
